You and your young child can discover new creative skills together with Little Explorers! This program mixes sensory artistic activities, music and stories to help your child build aesthetic awareness. These creative opportunities are designed for ages 6 months - 4 years. Your little ones will gain confidence, develop social skills and improve physical capabilities. They'll have so much fun as they're learning, language and emotional skills are enhanced!

Please note: Only children who are enrolled in the program may attend. Additional infants and/or siblings who are not officially enrolled cannot participate. Thank you for your understanding.

Scribbles and Dribbles

Discover how much power a scribble of crayon or a dribble of paint can hold! It's never too early to introduce your child to self-expression by encouraging them to draw on their own creativity.

Keep the mess out of your house and explore a variety of baby safe tools and materials to stimulate the senses. Babies and toddlers need activities to engage their senses, teach them about the world around them, and develop hand-eye coordination, balance and physical strength. Adults will work with their child creating art together.

Spring 2012 Theme: Animal Antics

Explore a world of animals imaginary and real. Children's animal stories will come to life as we use developmentally appropriate tools and materials that celebrate processes to stimulate your child's senses. Each week we will introduce a brief animal picture book or action rhyme and echo that tale in creating art together. Participants will also receive one artist canvas as a cumulative project to create a wonderful masterpiece to take home at the end of the session. Daily sessions will end with a little music and motion, so be ready to giggle, wiggle, and dress for a mess!

Little Leonardos

All forms of creativity - such as imagination, a sense of all things beautiful, and the desire to dream - have the same complex roots in human curiosity. Art and science frequently overlap. Both are a means of investigation involving ideas, theories, and hypotheses. Artists and scientists observe the world closely. They study different materials, history, culture, people, myths, and legends, and transform that information into something new.

Spring 2012 Theme: Expedition to the Poles
Explore the polar regions of our world to find their similarities and differences. What do we really know about these mysterious places? Are the Arctic (North Pole) and the Antarctic (South Pole) the same? Is a polar bear's fur really white? Do penguins and polar bears live together? Do people live there? And what exactly are those fluorescent ribbons that light up and dance across the polar night sky? Grab your creativity and imagination and let's find out about the "coolest" places on earth! Daily activities include; creating unique take-home projects using artistic tools and materials, and conducting simple science experiments to complete an "Expedition Lab Report."  Daily sessions will end with a themed story time.
