Ways You Can Help

There are many ways you can support the work of The Museum of Nature & Science.

MNS Annual Fund

Every gift, large or small, helps MNS fulfill its mission of Inspiring minds through nature and science. Annual Fund gifts are especially important because they provide direct support to the Museum's operations including permanent and traveling exhibits, educational programming, and collections and research. You can make a difference at MNS. Gifts of all sizes can collectively allow the Museum to:

  • Inspire over 600,000 minds a year
  • Deliver a broad spectrum of educational and public programs with the intent to support local schools, heighten the public's awareness of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to provide experiences that inspire them to embrace science in their everyday lives.
  • Care for our extensive collections that cover approximately 1.7 billion years of Earth's history and are illustrated through exhibitions focused on paleontology, geology, earth sciences, and biodiversity.
  • Fund over 200 permanent hands-on exhibits on physics, astronomy, health, robotics, nature, and special young children's venues.
  • Offer financial aid programs and scholarships that may reduce or even eliminate program fees for students who otherwise are unable to pay.

  • Annual Fund Gifts are tax-deductible and separate from Museum membership.


  • Matching gifts are an easy way to double or even triple your contribution to the Museum of Nature & Science. Ask your workplace if this benefit is available.


Make a gift in honor or in memory of your favorite paleontologist, amateur archaeologist, or nature lover.

Honorial and memorial gifts provide a meaningful way of paying tribute to those whose passion and lifework are dedicated to paleontology, archaeology, or natural history. All honorial and memorial gifts are acknowledged in Naturally Speaking, the newsletter of The Museum of Nature and Science.

Give a gift of stock.

A gift of long-term, appreciated securities (stock, bonds, or mutual fund shares) allows you to claim the full fair market value of the stock as a tax deduction. Often, you can also avoid paying capital gains tax. You may also choose to sell stock that has lost value and donate the proceeds from the sale. You can then deduct the capital loss, as well as the amount of the sale of the stock.

Leave a legacy.

Drawing up your estate plans is an intensely personal decision -- with family, legal, and tax implications that should be thought through carefully. Naming a charity in your will provides you with a way to make a lasting contribution to a cause you care about.
