| We continue to sort gear – gear that stays here for long-term storage, gear headed for Fairbanks, and personal gear. We pull two boats but leave the bigger one because Dave will be back for other business. At lunch and dinner we continue to be the subject of good-natured fun about the polar bear. Dave says that part of it is that whites saw the bear and villagers didn’t. Despite our fun, it is clear that not all of the village welcomes us, the outsiders.
After dinner, it finally occurs to me to do laundry. It now appears that we will all be leaving tomorrow, but on various flights for various destinations . Mary and I are on the same flight back to Fairbanks. |
