Alaskan Dinosaur Expedition

July 29

The arctic seems to have found us. A beautiful sky the day before was telling us it was coming, and now it’s here: gray and rainy alternating between flat-out rain and heavy mist. My borrowed tent and bag are not up to the task, and I’ve had to bail out my tent regularly. Finally about 2:30 the rain stopped and I got out to spend some time being vertical. Overall damage to camp is minimal, and the others soon joined me.

The day remained cool and gray; the temperature was about 46 degrees. On the upside, the mosquitoes are around only in the willows, which can still be inconvenient when heeding the call of nature. This was a dull day.
